Theaters & Performing Arts

Community involvement in the arts is an essential part of the creative culture here in Ypsilanti, extending into the theater and performing arts opportunities around town. You can always count on catching some type of performance at the Riverside Arts Center, a cultural and community hub in Ypsi. The multi-purpose venue offers spaces for performance, exhibits, and receptions for artists and art organizations, while being a nurturing and connecting space for the community.

Eastern Michigan University brings a lot to the table as well, with student led productions and a host of other distinguished performances, from opera to symphonies to ballet! Catch a performance at Pease Auditorium or Quirk-Sponberg Theatre, both located right on EMU’s campus. If you haven’t heard of Neighborhood Theatre Group, there’s a good chance you’re missing out on something incredible! This Ypsilanti theatre troupe performs original sketch comedy, producing completely one of a kind shows you’ll only get here. They perform in Ypsi, for Ypsi, and are pretty darn proud of it. Make sure you subscribe to our Ypsi Real newsletter so you don’t miss out on the next show in town!
