Ypsilanti Performance Space

website

overview

The First Congregational United Church of Christ was built in 1882 with subsequent rebuilding in 1898 due to a fire. Its history as a gathering space has touched the lives of many in Ypsilanti as well as those that have moved on from the area but still remember it fondly. Its interior boasts original stained glass windows, a beautiful pipe organ and original architectural relics. In April 2018, the church was purchased and started a major renovation. The church consists of the main sanctuary referred to as North Hall and the Annex, a separate building raised in 1986, which is home to business tenants and a multi-use community center outfitted with wifi, a kitchenette and private restroom (available to the public for rental usage). In the future, Ypsilanti Performance Space or “The Ypsi” will be a venue for live music, wedding facility rental and a gathering space for discussions and other exciting events.
