Join the City of Ypsilanti Parks & Arts Commission and the Huron River Watershed Council for a free celebration of the Huron River and a day of river fun and learning.

Free Paddle Trips
Have fun on the Huron River with a free paddle trip—perfect for beginner and experienced kayakers alike. Kayak the river as it winds through Ypsilanti into Ford Lake. Kayaks, life jackets, paddles and transportation will be provided for free.

Walk up registration only, limited availability.

Launch from Riverside Park anytime between 12-3pm and catch the shuttle back to the park from the takeout at Huron Landing Park. Dress for the weather and expect to get your feet wet. 


Family-friendly kids activities and wildlife demonstrations
Enjoy free family-friendly kids’ activities and wildlife demonstrations at Riverside Park!

Join the Huron Clinton Metroparks to learn river history and ecology and the Huron River Watershed Council for a look at a 3D map of the watershed. Leslie Science & Nature Center will host a booth featuring wildlife. Community organizations will share opportunities to get outside and enjoy nature. 

Informational Booths
Come meet local recreation and sustainability organizations! Learn about river restoration and protection projects, like the removal of Pen Dam and the Riverside Park wet meadow, and statewide efforts to address PFAS.
