Restaurants across Ypsilanti are inspired by southern and homestyle cooking. From traditional favorites that remind us of home, to infused dishes using savory flavors, you can find it here. Add these Southern-inspired and soul food restaurants to your must-try list!

1. A Taste of Soul by Biggie’s

Providing true homestyle cooking, founder Victor Swanson developed his love of cooking alongside his grandmother, Luella Swanson, who owned Swanson's Cafe on Harriet Street in Ypsilanti's historic South Side. After working together for 10 years, Victor opened his own business, Biggie's Fine Foods, in 2002 before becoming the restaurant we love today. Now, find some of the best comfort food at A Taste of Soul by Biggie’s, one of the longest standing soul food diners in Ypsi.  This family's love for food has provided great meals and service to the Ypsilanti community since 1973. A taste of Soul by Biggie's
