Ypsilanti offers a wealth of natural environments, with a variety of parks, gardens, and outdoor attractions, making it the perfect place for everything from kayaking and canoeing to stand-up paddle boarding.
The Huron River Water Trail – 104 miles of inland paddling and five Trail Towns to welcome you – is designated a National Water Trail by the Park Service. From rapids to placid flat water, from small town to city, a variety of adventures await. The Huron River is the perfect destination for a day on the water, grab some friends and a couple kayaks from one of the liveries along the river and get paddling!
Gallup Park is an incredible natural area full of great views and outdoor activities. Located along the Huron River, Gallup Park provides picnic areas, trails for biking and walking, a canoe livery, and more. At the Canoe Livery, you can rent canoes, kayaks, rowboats, and whatever else you may need for your outdoor excursion.
Riverside Park is a popular launch and landing destination for canoes and kayaks on the Huron River Water Trail. Ford Lake Park is an Ypsilanti Township staple, offering a public boat and canoe launch at the south banks of Ford Lake. Check out our full listing of outdoor recreation areas here!
