overview

Dael Orlandersmith’s two-character memory-play offers a disquieting, inspiring, and ultimately destructive tale of two African American characters, Alma and Eugene. Their independent dreams and intersecting stories come face to face, both with racial stereotypes leveled toward black women and black men, and with the intra-racial bigotry associated with having light versus dark skin within the African American community. Yellowman was a 2002 Pulitzer Prize finalist in Drama.
