Every October, as the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, the young and the young-at-heart discover fun and thrilling ways to celebrate fall and usher in the holiday season. Just east of Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti’s creative spirit fuels a festive evening that lights up night.
For the second year, WonderFool Productions teams up with the Ypsilanti community to host ypsiGLOW, a radiant celebration in Downtown Ypsilanti. Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, October 27, Downtown Ypsilanti will shine with hundreds of artist and community creations for a night of dancing, interactive art activities, black light stations, street performances, glowing window displays, and more. Halloween costumes and battery-powered lights are welcomed and encouraged. This event is for every and any age!
Make sure to bring your illuminated creations to Cultivate Coffee & Tap House by 6:15 p.m. to join in the processional from Depot Town, through Riverside Park, and along Michigan Avenue!
Families are invited to a preGLOW at the annual Halloween Fest hosted by the Downtown Association of Ypsilanti and the Ypsilanti Downtown District Library for music, face painting, a costume contest, and more! afterGLOW parties will be held directly after the event at Bona Sera, Ziggy’s, and Tap Room.
People of all ages are invited to build their own ypsiGLOW creation at free drop-in workshops. Located at the Riverside Arts Center Off Center, participants can learn from local artists how to make luminaries and glowing costumes to adorn at the event. Workshops are Sunday, October 15 and Sunday, October 22 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Don’t have time to go to a workshop but would still like to GLOW for the event? Create a costume from home or stop by Cultivate Coffee & Tap House for a preGLOW before the event, with music, drinks, and last-minute costuming to get GLOWed out before the event!
