Some people know it simply as Valentine’s Day. V-Day. Lover’s Day. Day of love. Others know it simply as the day of ice cream, gourmet chocolate sales, and comfort. Whatever you think of the day (and no matter your relationship status), there are plenty of things to do in Ypsilanti and on the Eastern Michigan University campus!
Don’t forget flowers, chocolates, and all the essentials! Hit up The Enchanted Florist on 46 E. Cross Street for the freshest flowers in Depot Town.
What’s this day without the most important present of all, chocolates? Yes, there are decadent sweet tooth shops right here in Ypsilanti. Try The Rocket, which has all kinds of retro and fun candy options!!
Nothing says “I love you” like freshly baked cookies so available for delivery. Check out Insomnia Cookies, located at 733 W. Cross St.
If deliciously fresh and fluffy doughnuts are more your thing (or your sweetheart’s!), Dom Bakeries on 1305 Washtenaw Rd, is a must.
For sports fans - a home basketball game is a perfect way to bond on February 14. Head on over to the Convocation Center to see Eastern’s Women’s Basketball team play Ohio at 7 p.m. Bonus points if you remember to grab the nachos!
For all the serious foodies, there are plenty of awesome options that can tantalize even the pickiest of taste buds. Tower Inn’s famous heart-shaped pizza will definitely hit the spot for those craving good ole hearty food. Other greats worth mentioning include:
-Casablanca, a sensational and flavorful authentic Moroccan restaurant located at 2333 Washtenaw Rd
-Vegetarian holy grail Bona Sera Café, located at 200 W. Michigan Ave (pictured below)
